Dan is a retired Air Force Lt. Col. with 26 years of military service that includes enlisted time in both the Navy and Army. He used his G.I. Bill benefits to complete his education, first completing a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology. After an Air Force recruiter convinced him that he could help more Airmen with a Clinical Psychology degree, he continued his studies, completing an internship to qualify and serve.
Dan has been married for 32 years to his wife, Robbi, and they have four grown children and four grandchildren. Dan has taught at multiple universities as an adjunct professor and his interest in the philosophy of education has become a family tradition. In addition to Dan’s teaching experience, Robbi and their three girls are all educators who have taught in Texas, California, Illinois, and Florida. Additionally, their son speaks and teaches at professional conferences throughout the county.
Upon retirement, Dan and wife Robbie settled down at Canyon Lake Ranch, where they have five longhorn and run several small businesses. The couple has worked in the hospitality business for the last 16 years, including ownership of the popular Aardvark Annie’s Restaurant at Canyon Lake until the flood of July 2002. Dan also pursues his interest in water conservation through hydroponic farming at the ranch.
Dan became active in Texas politics after watching our state's public education system under attack and women’s rights being eroded by draconian laws that made them second class citizens. The Boones share an active political life, with Robbi currently serving as the Comal County chair for the local Democratic Party, in addition to playing an integral role in Dan's campaign.
